I graduated from Johannesburg College of Education with a 4 year HDE, the equivalent of todays B.Ed. I taught junior Maths at a high school in Johannesburg and then moved to KZN where I continued teaching Maths at a high school. I left teaching to bring up my family of 4 boys and returned to teaching in 2008. I taught Maths (Gr 8 to Gr 11)and Maths Lit (Gr 10 – 12) until retiring in 2021. Since then I have kept up my tutoring skills through Zoom sessions with students around the country.

In 2021 I retired as a deputy Principal and HOD for Maths and Science at a small high school in Pietermaritzburg. My passion was, and still is, Mathemematics and I have concentrated on Grades 8 to 10 where the basics need to be laid and understood. Through patience and understanding I have been able to explore the problems that learners tend to experience and love that moment when the understanding clicks and Maths no longer is the feared subject. I have also taught Mathematical Literacy and find this an invaluable and rewarding alternative to Core Maths.
